This is Mosaic

Mosaic is the social justice magazine of the School of Communication at Loyola University Chicago.

Loyola’s School of Communication encourages students to be involved with their surrounding community and issues surrounding social justice. Mosaic began as a project in the fall COMM 315 Advance Reporting course taught by John Slania in 2003, and the first magazine was published in the spring of 2004. In the spring of 2012 the design of Mosaic became the responsibility of the COMM 328 Magazine Design and Publishing course taught by Jessica Brown. Since then, both courses, along with photo journalism students, have worked together to produce the Magazine.

The goal of Mosaic Magazine online is to give all journalism students a place to contribute content beyond the print product throughout the school year. Mosaic provides students the opportunity to synthesize their education around ethical journalism practices, and give voice to those who may otherwise go unheard. Students research and develop story ideas, conduct interviews, take photos, design the website and hard copy editions, while striving to promote issues of social justice in Chicago.
